Russell Street Streetscape Refresh

Artfully was engaged by Toowoomba Regional Council to curate and manage a public art commission program for the Russell Street Streetscape refresh Project. Artfully worked with the design team to scope integrated opportunities, develop Artwork Briefs, manage a public EOI process, facilitate artist selection, commission competitive concepts, and manage all stages of the artwork commission process from concept to completion. Local artists drew on the tenancies and histories of Russell Street, Toowoomba's original main street, as well as the site's First Nations' significance for their artwork inspirations. Artwork outcomes include: a series of forty bronze plates integrated into footpath; three major mural commissions; a series of four streeprints at laneway entrances; a feature streeprint on a plaza; a series of three gobo lighting projections; laser-cut artwork ceiling panels with programmable back-lighting within three shade structures.
